She removed her hand away and stared at him. "I don't want to go... but I will if you want me to."

He glanced at her through the corner of his eye "How long do you plan to wander..?"

Kani looked at him, a little confuzed. "I dont know... why?"

"What are you going to do now.." He sighed, looking down. "You're a lost soul, merely wandering.."

Kani shrugged, feeling uncomfortable. "I...I don't know. I didnt have any plans...because when I thought of dying I thought of not coming back. Of staying where...wherever we go..." She was suddenly a little freaked out about the possibily of staying as she was: not able to be alive but not able to move on.

"In a lot of cases.." He looked up at her once again, his eyes still giving too much emotion for him, but he started not to care anymore. "They don't go anywhere."

Kani was glad that Gaara couldn't see her, because a quick look of panic flashed across her features. She turned away from him, her eyes wide. They didn't go anywhere? So she was stuck here? She quietly took a breath before sighing. "Oh..." she said, keeping her voice indifferent. "Well that's good to know."

He had closed his eyes and turned his head, knowing her expression would have been difficult to look at. "This is why I regret what I did.. I never wanted you to be in that situation.."

"No, it's fine," she said, her voice still indifferent. She still didn't think that Gaara could see her. "I actually think it's interesting. Because I'm not alive...but I can still be here."

"It's not fine." He shook his head. "If that happens... I don't know what it takes to help you move on. You could be stuck like that for all eternity.. always wandering.. and most of the time, nobody will be able to see you. All those you know and care for will eventually die off, and there will be nothing left but the earth and sky that is familiar. It is not fine."

She didn't want to listen to it, she didn't want to believe it. She was used to wandering, sure... but Gaara made a point about everyone else dying and her still being stuck. She still had her back to him, and she was glad that he didn't see her face. She sighed and looked out the window, to the that he sun was slowly setting, spraying fire onto panes of glass. She just focused on that wonder for a moment.

He kept his eyes on the floor. "I'll.. find a way, Kani.. I'm not going to let this happen to you."

Kani looked over at Gaara. "Did you ever think that I might want to stay like this?" Her words stunned even herself, but she instantly knew they were true. It would be better like this, she could help more. Leave whenever people needed, that wasn't that hard before, and she'd be able to spy on the Akatsuki. Before... she was just kind of useless.

"You do understand Kani.." He didn't look at her. "After we're gone, what will you do?"

Kani shrugged, still not turning to face him. "I don't know."
