"..." He didn't take his eyes from her, knowing that she was right. "I suppose.. though, neither is right to do. Even if the latter is worse, both of them are bad enough. What kind of risk do you think this village took when they made me Kazekage, knowing my past and how I would try to kill whatever stood in my way? I could have been this man you're talking about now."

"But they knew that you weren't. And their other option, if you were that man..." She paused. "They would be able to kill you...with the Akatsuki. Or some other mercinary group. But they trusted you enough, and look at where that's gotten them. To prosperity and joyous celebration of life!" She smiled slightly. "And they know that you'll never leave them to a man that you say you could have been. They're your people and they love you."

He looked away, to the floor again. There wasn't much he could say to that, and he really didn't feel like arguing with the best friend he had killed two days prior. "I suppose it's normal to doubt your loved ones, then?"

"If you dont doubt them, then you put them on a pedistal from which they cant get down. But it really all depends on what you're doubting about," she said.

He nodded, keeping his eyes on the floor. "What do you plan to do now, Kani.."

Kani shrugged and looked away slightly. "I don't know... walk around I guess. There's nothing much I can do..."

"My apologies, for bringing this upon you." He sighed quietly. "You didn't deserve it, especially from me."

Kani shook her head. "It doesn't matter. What's done is done. Being dead hasn't really impacted anything mayjor. Don't loose sleep over it..." She glanced out the window at Suna. "You run a beautiful city," she said softly.

"It wouldn't make a difference." He looked out the window as well. "Yes, it is.. I used to look at this village in disgust, but now I see that it wasn't their fault I was born the way I was."

Kani smiled and it was soft but held a hint of sadness. "I should leave..." she said quietly.

He looked at her, his eyes showing more emotion then he wanted them to. "Your leaving..?"

She didn't really want to, but she felt like she was intruding. She shrugged. "I dont know... If I stay any longer I'll feel intrusive. But if you want me to stay then I will, I guess." She looked over at him and saw the emotion in his eyes. It was confusing, looking into it. She saw regret and sadness and hope and dispare and several other emotions, but they were all so swirled together that she could't pinpoint them all.

He closed his eyes and turned his head slightly. The feeling that his soul was being peered into disturbed him slightly for some odd reason. "Of course. I never wanted you to leave in the first place, Kani. I really messed things up this time."

Kani bit her lip and looked at him. "You don't want me to leave..." it was a question, but a statement. She walked right up in front of him and ran her fingers across his cheek as gently as possible. "I won't leave if you dont want me to..."

He felt the coldness on his cheek, then opened his eyes and stared at the floor. "It is your decision. I will understand if you don't want to stay."
