"It's my fault.." He shook his head again. "This isn't fair to you. I should have just let the problem be, not pestered Shukaku with questions.."

"Gaara, would you stop? Everything is fine! Don't toture yourself!" Kani turned around, her face blank.

He growled, moving to the closest wall and hitting his head lightly off of it, keeping it there afterwards. "Of course everything isn't fine. Kani.. you're dead by my hands, I'm an easy target, one of the people you trusted has reverted to an enemy.. so many things are going wrong, and so many things will continue to go wrong."

Kani sighed and pushed a strand of hair out of her face. "Gaara, you're not an enemy! You made a-" She fummbled for the right word. "-terrible mistake. That's it! Just because you made a terrible mistake, doesnt mean that you're an enemy! And sure things will continue to go wrong, that's how the world works!"

"I wasn't talking about me.." He shook his head slightly. "I was talking about Raku. I'm an easy target because of my current condition, he's one of the ones after people like me. Of course, thing will continue to go wrong, but wrong things for me wil most likely stop for good soon."

Kani hissed. "That fucking traitor won't get near you," she growled. "I don't care what I have to do, if I have to posses someone or whatever, he is not going to get near you."

"What makes you think that he will be after me?" He turned his head slightly, looking at her through the corner of his eye. "And what makes you think I'll die to the hands of an Akatsuki member?"

Kani ground her teeth together. Gaara was starting to piss her off. "I'm not saying that you WILL die at the hand of the Akatsuki. I'm just saying that if they try, they're not going to be able to."

"Heh heh.." His eyes suddenly turned into a glare, and his lips were in a smirk. He coughed slightly, blood sliding from his lips and dripping from his chin, making him look even more demented. "You don't need to worry about that. I'll be dead before then."

Kani's eyes widened a little. "Gaara, what are you talking about? You're not going to kill yourself are you?" Gaara's sudden dementedness took her by surprise.

"Maybe.." He licked the blood from his lips. "Maybe not. Depends on if it works. Don't worry, I've got a few decent people lined up to take care of the village."

Kani stared at him, confused. "B-but why Gaara? Why would-" She stopped and shook her head, unable to comprehend what was going through his. "WHY?!"

"Because I can't stand this anymore, that's why." His smirk disappeared, replaced by an angry frown. "I'm not going to let the Akatsuki get me, and I'm not going to let myself kill anybody. I have nothing left to live for, except for this village who in the end will simply throw me back into the dark depths that was my past. You can try all you want to stop me, but my mind is set. When there's nobody left to care that you made the same mistake twice, there's no point in trying not to. If the Akatsuki get to me first, I will give myself up."

Kani stared at him for a moment, her eyes becoming normal. Then her face was blank. "So you're just going to kill yourself again?"

"Heh.." He glared at the floor. "Unless something gets me before then, or I find something better, then yes. It's alright Kani, you wont need to suffer alone."
